A request for the deletion of a red notice has been successfully completed

Our request for the deletion of the Red Notice issued against our client of Turkish origin has been successfully concluded. While the Red Notice was based on an alleged financial offence, its true aim was to facilitate the extradition of our client, who is also facing politically motivated proceedings in Turkey.

The fact that this Red Notice was published, and that the deletion process took 17 months, sheds light on significant structural problems within the Interpol mechanism. According to Interpol’s own rules, applications must be resolved within a maximum of 9 months; however, this case was concluded in 17 months. The absence of any sanctions against the abuse and delay tactics employed by National Central Bureaus (NCBs) emerges as a serious shortcoming.
